LAHC Celebrates 27th Anniversary and Republic of Lebanon's Independence Day

The LAHC is honored to share this anniversary date with the Independence Day of Lebanon; a date which all Lebanese across the globe welcome and celebrate. On November 19, 2009, a small reception was held by the LAHC and under the auspice of the Consulate of Lebanon in Detroit to mark the dates. Community leaders, dignitaries and sponsors joined the LAHC to share in the festivities.

The event featured artisan exhibits offering guests a glimpse of Lebanese artwork, embroidery, musical and cultural items while speakers addressed the celebration of the LAHC's anniversary and Independence Day. Several special guests included Consul General of Lebanon in Detroit, Mr. Bachir Tawk, community leaders, elected officials, the Consul General of Lebanon from North Carolina, Mr. Ghassan Deiri and the Honorable Belal Chararah, the Head of Foreign Affairs in the Lebanese Parliament who traveled from Beirut.

LAHC President, Salem Salamey spoke on the success of the LAHC and the importance of having a united and independent Lebanon while Vice President Suehaila Amen spoke on the LAHC's commitment to preserving the rich heritage of the Lebanese people in the west and honored the memory of Michel Chiha, the author of constitution of Lebanon who was a well respected businessman, journalist, author and politician.

"We have come a long way since our inception and we are proud of the organization, the efforts of its members and staff, and the support of the community and local and national sponsors" explains LAHC Founder Ali Jawad. "Each of these individuals and companies has helped us to continue our mission and vision, without them, we would not have been able to accomplish all that we have in the last 27 years."
