The Lebanese American Heritage Club (LAHC) proudly celebrated the 20th Annual Arab American Scholarship Foundation (AASF) Dinner which took place back on May 8, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dearborn.
The LAHC/AASF was honored and privileged to welcome guest speaker, His Excellency, the Ambassador of Lebanon to the United States, Mr. Antoine Chedid and Mr. Gerald Smith of Comcast who served as the evening's Master of Ceremonies.
With a unique program planned, the LAHC/AASF 20th Annual Gala featured internationally recognized Peruvian-Lebanese Opera Tenor, Mr. Jose Sacin along with a magnificent scholarship and awards ceremony.
The LAHC/AASF was pleased to announce the 2008 award recipients:

Dr. Eddie Abdalla; Assistant Professor of Surgery, Department of Surgical Oncology; University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center
Imam Mardini, known for his invaluable services to the Islamic and greater interfaith community has worked unremittingly to bring together people of all cultures and faiths in an effort to promote understanding and build bridges of communication.
Dr. Eddie Abdalla, a medical degree graduate of the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor specializes in Hepatobiliary Surgery. His practice focuses on hepatic, biliary and pancreatic tumor treatment. His research parallels these clinical interests, with a focus on expanding the indications for surgical treatment of hepatobiliary diseases using preoperative treatments including portal vein embolization, accurately predicting postoperative hepatic function following hepatectomy, and new approaches to treatment of patients with primary hepatic tumors and liver metastases.
The Lebanese American Heritage Club has awarded seventy scholarships to deserving Arab American Students of $1000 each.
