On November 21, 2008, the LAHC proudly held its 26th Anniversary and the celebration of the Republic of Lebanon's 65th Anniversary of its Independence. Held at the beautiful facility of the Lebanese American Heritage Club in Dearborn, the event brought in over 225 of Metro Detroit's prominent Arab American leadership and many public officials and sponsors who came to celebrate in the LAHC's continued success.
LBC Correspondent and Host of "Be Kul Jur'ah", Ms. May Chediac, the guest of a local Lebanese organization attended the event, as well.
"It is beautiful to see Muslim, Christian and Druze members of Lebanese society in American together, celebrating Lebanon's Independence," Ms. Chediac Stated
Recognized for its commitment to the community and the youth, Senator Irma Clark-Coleman's liaison, Tarek Beydoun presented LAHC President, the Honorable Salem Salamey with a proclamation for the organization
"The LAHC is honored to be recognized by Senator Irma Clark-Coleman's office and is committed to the greater Arab and Non-Arab American community," states Miss Amen. "We encourage members of society to become involved in the organization and participate in the variety of events we host and sponsor throughout the year. It is important that we continue to build bridges of understanding between the Lebanese-Arab American community and greater society."
The event featured delicious traditional Middle Eastern Dishes such as Tabbouli, Hommous, and fatayer along with Artisana items, a fortune teller (cup reader), and amazing traditional Middle Eastern music provided by Ali Barada on the Traditional Oud guitar.
The event featured brief remarks by the Honorable Salem Salamey, President of the LAHC; His Excellency, Mr. Bachir Tawk, Acting Consul General of the Consulate of Lebanon in Detroit and was hosted by LAHC 1st Vice President, Miss Suehaila Amen.
