Wassim Mahfouz Bio

Wassim Mahfouz is a native of Lebanon and graduate of the Islamic
University of Lebanon in Beirut. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Hospitality Management,
and is currently working on his Master's in Business Administration with a concentration
in Human Resources Management at Eastern Michigan University. Since his days in
Lebanon he has been involved in social work; he served as a volunteer rescuer for
the Lebanese Red Cross. Upon his arrival in the United States, Wassim became actively
involved in the Arab American Community. For the past seven years, he has served
as the Executive Director of the Lebanese American Heritage Club and continues to
be committed. He takes pride in helping to preserve, unite, and advance the future
generations of the community. Wassim is serving now as an Assistant for Wayne County
Executive Robert A. Ficano. He joined the CEO team on January 3rd 2005. The areas
under his jurisdiction include Dearborn and Dearborn Heights. "Being the liaison
between the Arab American Community and Wayne County is a big responsibility. I
was only able to succeed because of the support of this great community. What makes
Wayne County special is its diversity" said Wassim. Wassim also serves on the board
the Congress of Arab American Organizations, Access/Domestic Violence Coalition,
American Arab Discrimination Committee and The United States Army Grassroots Advisory
Board. Wassim is married to Marci Mahfouz. Their happiness was fulfilled with the birth of their baby boy Rami. "It is such a beautiful feeling to be a father. You appreciate your parents more and your goals and standards in life change. You don't live anymore for yourself and that is what makes your life more meaningful." Wassim enjoys spending time with family and friends, and tries to travel as often as possible. |
