Salem Salamey Bio

Sam Salamey was born in Lebanon on September 2, 1959, and emigrated to the united states at the age of 15 and settled in the city of Dearborn where he immediately sought work to support himself and to assist his family's financial needs.

Over the next 11 years, Sam pursued full time course of employment and study and graduated with a juris doctorate degree in law in 1985.

Shortly after passing the Michigan state bar examination, Sam joined, as an associate attorney, the prestigious law firm of berry, Hopson, Francis, Mack & Seifman, and within three years (3) years of joining was promoted to a full partner position.

In addition to his law practice in Dearborn, Sam served as a prosecuting attorney for the cities of garden city and Romulus for a number of years and in 1993 was appointed to the bench of the 19th district court in Dearborn as a magistrate judge. Sam became the chief magistrate of the Dearborn court in 1997 and served in that capacity until 2006. Presently, Sam Salamey serves as the senior partner of Salamey & Farhat, PLLC, which is one of the most successful full line law firms in Dearborn.

Before starting his law career, Sam served as a community relations officer with the Dearborn police department and taught two (2) years at Fordson high school.

For most of his adult life, Sam has been a community activist and served as a chairman or board member of numerous civic, charitable, business and social organizations, including, access, ADC, Islamic Institute of knowledge, congress of Arab American organizations, Lebanese American heritage club, Dearborn chamber of commerce among others.

Sam has been recognized by many of the organizations he served and he is the recipient of many civic awards and recognitions including the national young leadership award by ADC and the community activist of the year award by the Lebanese American Heritage Club and was named the 2008 man of the year by the "best way" magazine, the largest Arab-American magazine in the Detroit area.
