Message from Mr. Ali Jawad (LAHC Founder) When we founded the Lebanese American Club 25 years ago, we never imagined we could take it this far. We were just a few guys who wanted to play soccer and occasionally sponsor parties with Lebanese singers from our homeland. We were a bunch of immigrants imitating what we saw growing up in Lebanon. Our ambitions started small, but quickly grew. Our focus soon changed to becoming mainstream Americans. That is when we added "Heritage" to our name and that is what led us to this. We learned that America is a multicultural country where anyone can successfully blend old cultures with American culture. We can be proud of our heritage and also be patriotic Americans. When we began working towards contributing to American society, The Lebanese American Heritage Club became successful. This is my message to our youth. Our club can be an example to you. Be proud of your heritage and never let anyone make you feel less American than any other. Do not lose sight of your roots, but also work hard to be a good American. Your personal success will come through working as an American with Arabic roots, rather than an Arab working in America. Your personal success will in turn contribute to the success of our local and then national communities. God willing, we look forward to presenting you all with awards some day and inviting you back as our future key-note speakers. Sincerely, Ali Jawad |
